Several companies made hard rubber buttons in the last half of the nineteenth century. Goodyear is the most recognizable.

India Rubber Comb Company (I.R.C. Co)
Dickenson Hard Rubber Company (D.H.R. Co)
A.R. Co (presumed to be the American Rubber Company).
